Hardwood Floors

We've just finished redoing all the hardwood floors in the house. Three bedrooms and the living room. I am soooo pleased at how they turned out. Much better than I had expected. I did not want to have to put in carpeting because of the animals and Jon's asthma. Jon has moved bedrooms into Steve's old room and it has carpeting. I'm going to have to do something, maybe a floating wood floor or level loop carpet tiles that can be easily cleaned. Probably wood. I'm very happy with the finish I chose, Varathane Satin. Nice sheen but not gloss. The Varathane sander is a snap to operate. The hardest part is clearing out the rooms and bending over to put on the polyurethane. I tried the applicator but MUCH prefer using a brush.
The worst part of the floor. Water damage from previous owners.

After sanding and hydrogen peroxide. Much better.

The finished floor. I am going to do 1 more coat of poly for good measure.

Marquette County Humane Society

Lauren collected cans of kitty food for her birthday and we brought them to the shelter. It was hard not to go home with a new kitty. Well, not that hard....

My Garden

Tux's favorite perch to catch prey. He's starting to bring live things home. Yuck!

Heritage Days

Goofus Ammesmaki (sp?) and his one-man band.

Only in Negaunee. Nuf said.

Beach

We were at the beach the other day and the kids found this interesting thing. It was about 3 inches long and looked like some kind of crab. Maybe some kind of beetle. I've never seen anything like it in the lake.

We rode our bikes down to McCarty's Cove last Friday night for an end of the day dip. The sky was beautiful.
